Designing and Releasing Websites

September 5, 2008 @ 2:33 am | by spxds

Just last month I launched my new portfolio site with a new design, and layout. Just last week I finished and launched a new client’s website: Today’s Cabinetry as well.

Plus I’m constantly working on other projects too, that are keeping me super busy. As you also may notice I’m trying to rework the design of the blog too. I am personally growing tired of the layout. I think I’ve had this same layout since I first started the blog back in 1999/2000. So I’m in a much need of a change design/layout too.

Although I’m keeping busy with work I’m still accepting new clients too. I will be launching some new sites and print work soon too. Plus starting on more personal projects in the coming week as well. Lots of great things are happening and thanks for all the comments too.

Just Call Me Ms. Fixit

September 1, 2008 @ 12:24 pm | by spxds

I really enjoy owning a home and it’s been a great investment, but when things start to go wrong I worry, but this time around I fixed the problem myself.

” Just the other day I noticed there was water coming from the AC closet. I immediately shut off the air, and started inspecting the problem. My first thoughts was that the line was clogged, and the water was backing up in the tray. So after researching the problem in-depth, I found out that it could be the air conditioner’s condensation pipe being clogged.

So the next morning I went out to the back of the house, and found the drain pipe from the AC sure enough it was clogged up with algae, and dirt. Plus the extension pipe was covered up which did not allow a way for the water to go anywhere. After taking a little time to dig a trench and unclog the pipe all is well once again. The air condition is running great, and not only did it save me money, but it felt great to be able to fix something on my own.”

More Goodies in the Mail and Things…..

August 20, 2008 @ 12:26 pm | by spxds

I love getting goodies in the mail and last week I got even more goodies in the mail.

I got my prizes that I had won from the NAPP Twitter contest. They also threw in a current issue of Photoshop user too.

Plus I also this  gigantic poster from Veer too. I’m still looking for a place to hang it up at. It’s a pretty neat collage of images and type.  I also got a round to making my avatar over at Face your Manga.  Last week it was a fad across the twitter universe so I gave in and created my avatar too. I also created a  couple of new doodles too. Have not had time to do any drawing lately, but decided to take some time over the week to just doodle.

My piece I did was “Summer is Gone”, since it is getting cooler at night and the days are starting to slowly end before 8pm now. I did a few others, but have not had the time to upload them.

Ok enough rambles for one day…. Links to images are below.!

Working Toward a New Design

@ 12:50 am | by spxds

I’ve been working lately on my redesigning my portfolio site TechnoColor.net. I’m making some improved progress of the design and already went live with some of the pages too. Most  all I have to do now is finish working on my portfolio section. It’s not live yet, but I’m working toward getting it ready to go live soon. The old portfolio is still up currently, but working to get the new one live soon. I did change the links section and replaced it with a Lifestream, which is  chronological  view of  life activities both online and offline. I use  it mostly with my online activities   from Last. Fm, Twitter, Blog posts, flickr, Delicious,  and Brightkite.

In other news I’ve also uploaded some new “doodles”" i’ve done just for fun too. As far as work goes, I’ve been busy with a couple of new clients and their projects so I’m keeping busy with work these days, but not booked up that I can’t take on more work too.

Life, Contests, and Goodies!

Survey Time

I won a contest      Activity Book

I’ve been busy lately  working on client projects, but have had a few hours lately left in my days to finally start on redesigning my portfolio site, which is in dire need of a major overhaul. Plus I’ve had some extra time to enter contests like this one that was being hosted  at Planet Photoshop last week. The contest was pretty simple since all you had to do was just redesign your twitter profile. I entered it to find out later that I won 3rd place which was nice, since I would be getting a years worth of Layers Magazine, which is a very trendy design magazine that has tutorials for all the Adobe software. Plus I’m also getting the Photoshop CS3 Hot Tips booklet which will be a welcomed addition to my design library as well.

Then last week I also got Veer’s Summer activity booklet, which they send out each year, and also got a Brightkite sticker from a fellow twitter friend too. I always enjoy getting buttons, stickers,  and other tech logo items like tee shirts or mugs too.  I hope to get some more stickers to put on my new macbook I just

got last month too. So far this week I took the yearly survey for A List Apart.   and just working on client work as well as my portfolio redesign.

Thinking about places to go…

July 31, 2008 @ 11:08 am | by spxds

Just the other day I was talking with a friend about places to go for vacation or day trips. The most places I thought that I would enjoy going is from hiking/trail, mountain biking, white water rafting, museums, art galleries, aquariums, and landmarks like to the outer bank to see the Light houses. I know what most people would say about going to those places, since most would think it would be so boring, but personally I think those would be fun places to go, since I rather go on trips to learn things than just to go shopping or  spend the time away wasted.

Upgrades for Monday

July 21, 2008 @ 9:14 am | by spxds

I recently upgraded to WP 2.6, but keep forgetting when I upgrade that I need to back up the themes folder, since my FTP program always replaces it with the newest one. I did not do it this time,  and my theme was deleted, so I had to rewrite my theme, since use a custom template that I designed. So if you see any errors, please excuse  them while I get my theme back into working order.

Sandy Ocean Waves

July 19, 2008 @ 4:21 pm | by spxds

Had a short vacation spending time with family and friends, this past week at the beach. The weather was nice, but too hot. although it rained pretty much all day yesterday.

I was on the go pretty much the whole entire time and did not get to take any pictures I like I had plan. Anyhow, I did see the movie “Dark Knight” while away, which I thought it was a good movie and a great sequel to Batman Begins.

All in all I had a great trip and feel refreshed to start the next week…..
